minimix: dream a dream (and what you see will be)
I know there's a couple of people who might find this interesting outside myself, but it's not put together enough to be part of the main release. If you've read my
inception_bang Inception/Neverending Story crossover first, thank you, that thing is a sprawling beast, how, and second, here's the music that inspired it. If you're interested click the cut to see/listen to it. Lyrics that spawned part of the plot are in italics after the embedded youtube clip. :)

1. The Neverending Story - Limahl
The English-language theme (the German release used Bastian's Happy Flight which is that lovely end theme where if you've seen the film, Bastian gets his revenge on the school bullies. <3) is where the fic gets its title.
Turn around - look at what you see.
In her face the mirror of your dreams.
...
Dream a dream and what you see will be.
...
Rhymes that keep their secrets will unfold behind the clouds
...
Show your fear
for she may fade away
2. Atreju Meets Falcor - Klaus Doldinger and Giorgio Moroder
My favourite instrumental piece from The Neverending Story's soundtrack. Most of my fic was composed listening to this.
3. Any Other World - Mika
In any other world
You could tell the difference
And let it all unfurl
Into broken remnants
Smile like you mean it
And let yourself let go
Cos it's all in the hands of a bitter, bitter man
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
4. Shalott - Emilie Autumn
And with that the glass above
Cracked into a million bits
And she cried out, "So the story fits
But then I could have guessed it all along
'Cause now some drama queen is gonna write a song for me,"
...
I know I'm meant to die
Everyone else can watch as their dreams untie
So why can't I
5. The Wall - Kansas
I'm woven in a fantasy, I can't believe the things I see
The path that I have chosen now has led me to a wall
And with each passing day I feel a little
more like something dear was lost
...
The riches that I seek are waiting on the other side
There's more that I can measure in the treasure of the love that I can find
And though it's always been with me, I must tear down the Wall and let it be
All I am, and all that I was ever meant to be, in harmony
Shining true and smiling back at all who wait to cross
There is no loss
6. The Fragile - Nine Inch Nails
She reads the minds of all the people as they pass her by
Hoping someone can see
...
But it's too late for me
I won't let you fall apart
We'll find the perfect place to go where we can run and hide
I'll build a wall and we can keep them on the other side
7. If I Ever Leave This World Alive - Flogging Molly
If I ever leave this world alive
I'll thank for all the things you did in my life
...
Wherever I am you'll always be
More than just a memory
If I ever leave this world alive
If I ever leave this world alive
I'll take on all the sadness
That I left behind
If I ever leave this world alive
The madness that you feel will soon subside
...
So when in doubt just call my name
Just before you go insane
If I ever leave this world
Hey I may never leave this world
But if I ever leave this world alive

The film though? Not so much. Still don't, but that's because I love the book and I don't think you can't match the imagination a child is having when reading the book. I just re'read it last year...when reading it to my son :D.
